Andhra Raphael Tate

Andhra Raphael Tate, 62, of Hampton, was called home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2026. Born in Denver to Ralph R. Tate and Celya Tate, Andhra lived a life filled with love, laughter, resilience, and devotion to family and friends.

She was preceded in eternal rest by her beloved brother, Ralph Keith Tate.

Andhra will forever be cherished and remembered by her loving parents, Ralph and Celya Tate; her devoted children, Brittany Tate, Terry Dexter Bonner Jr. (Janeica), Niya Randolph, Alysha Ferguson, and Deandre Perkins; and her treasured grandchildren, affectionately known as her “Grandboos”: Brenden K. Tate, Jaxson Hyman, Bellamy Hyman, Terry D. Bonner III (“Tre”), Jada Noble, and Jaden Noble.

She also leaves behind a host of cherished friends who were like family to her, including Linda Lawton, Sydelle Freelon Watts, Kim, Georgette Alston, Rennie, and her special friend, Martoyne “Kat” Jones, along with many other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Andhra was a proud graduate of Phoebus High School, Class of 1981. Following high school, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she pursued nursing studies for one year. She later discovered her passion in surgical technology and completed the Surgical Technology Program at Riverside Regional Medical Center. She began her healthcare career at DePaul Hospital and also worked at Newport News General Hospital. Throughout her life, Andhra embraced various professional roles, including serving as a manager at the Econo Lodge in Hampton, before concluding her career in administrative support work.

Andhra had a vibrant spirit and a personality that naturally drew people to her. She was an avid reader who could often be found enjoying a good book, a delicious meal, or sharing laughter with those around her. Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, she loved making people laugh and often considered herself a comedian in her own right. She also loved dancing, spending time with family, and creating joyful memories with those she loved most.

Above all, Andhra loved deeply. She loved her family fiercely, treasured her friendships, and valued the many meaningful relationships she built throughout her life. Her warmth, humor, strength, and caring heart touched countless lives.

Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her beautiful spirit will forever remain in their hearts.
