Calvin Brown Jr.

Calvin Brown, Jr., 73, passed peacefully Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at his home in Hampton, Virginia.  Calvin Brown, Jr. was born March 5, 1948, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Delcy and Calvin Brown, Sr. They had two children, Julius Brown and Calvin Brown Jr.  He attended Hampton Public Schools and graduated from George P. Phoenix class of 1966.  After high school, he attended Norfolk State University and was later drafted into the United States Army to serve during the Vietnam War.  He retired with over 37 years with the federal government.    

Calvin is survived by his daughters, Dennetra Cross (Yaphet Cross) and Tameka Murphy (Jason Murphy Sr.); grandchildren, JaSante Thomas, Savannah Murphy, Skyler Murphy, and Jason Murphy Jr.; brother, Julius Brown (Bridget Alexander); nieces, Demetrica Brown and Delcy Brown; nephew, Julius Brown; great-nieces and nephew Jarrel Dixon, Ariel Dixon, and Kentrell Dixon, plus many other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will occur at Smith Brothers Funeral Home: 545 East Mercury Boulevard Hampton, Virginia on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  Guest may visit prior to the celebration from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
