Life began for our beloved Carlson McCoy Pendleton November 23, 1948. Carl transitioned peacefully January 20, 2025 at his home with his wife Sarah and granddaughters Amelia and Anabel by his side.
He was born the middle child of seven to the late Bernard Pendleton and Carlene McCoy Pendleton in Boston, Massachusetts.
His life was a tapestry woven with threads of service, love, and dedication. He pursued his education in Boston, later attending Hampton Institute in Virginia before honorably serving his country in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class Carlson M. Pendleton. Carl served as Tower Sentry Tiger Flight Security, 366th Security Police Squadron at Da Nang Airfield Republic of Vietnam in 1970. In 1971 he was promoted to Sergeant and served 8 years.
After serving his county in the Armed Forces, Carl earned his BS Degree from Christopher Newport University and his Masters Degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University.
Carl dedicated his professional life to serving veterans as a LCSW (PTSD Specialist) at the Veterans Hospital in Hampton, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memories a wife of 44 years Sarah, 3 children Diane Kendall of Newport News, VA, Warren (Michelle) Hedgepeth of Baltimore, MD and Bashan Gallop of Hampton, VA. And adopted great-granddaughter Amelia. Grandchildren Justin K., William, Jasmine, Jeremy, JerRod, Lashana, Gabrielle, Justin G., Sophia, Ashton. He also leaves a host of great grandchildren. Stepmother Zenobia Pendleton Virginia Beach, VA, siblings Bernard (Gloria Moon) Pendleton Jr., Richard Pendleton, Rosalind Pendleton(Glenn Franklin), Colleen Pendleton All of Boston, MA, Anne (Charles White)Pendleton, Mary Pendleton Virginia Beach, VA, Cousins Sonny Pendleton, Buster Pendleton, Katrina Pendleton Cole and long term family friend Ro-Adrienne Davidson. Sister in laws Geneva (Roberto)Lopez of Newport News VA, Genetta Washington and Taunee Kendall of Atlanta, GA, Brothers in laws George (Leola) Kendall and James Kendall of Battle Creek MI, Rev. Dr. Steve (Eunice) Kendall of Richmond, VA, Milton (Franchella) Kendall of Clinton, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
