Charles Williamston Jr. Obituary

Charles Edward Williamston, Jr. was born October 11, 1942, to the late Ruth and Charles E. Williamston, Sr. in Philadelphia, PA.

When he was young, Charles enjoyed running; so when he entered West Philadelphia High School, he joined the track team as a “speed boy”.

After graduation, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Germany.  Shortly after enlisting, he was trained and earned a spot on the boxing team.  It was during this time that he earned the nickname “Beaucoup”.  When Charles returned to the United States, he was stationed in Virginia, where he met and married Evelyn Smith.  Following their marriage, they moved to Philadelphia where Charles worked as a Loan Officer.  Shortly after moving to Philadelphia they had a son, Edward.  They moved back to Hampton, VA where they divorced and Charles moved to NC.  Unfortunately while in NC Charles learned of his son’s passing.

Charles had a great love for golf.  For many years he played weekly with his friends and was said to be very good.  He still liked running and would go to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays for many years.  He moved back to Hampton, VA around 2009 and became very active in American Legion Post 67, where he was the Chaplain and a lifetime member.

Charles leaves to cherish his most precious memories; two grandsons; one great granddaughter; sister, Carolyn McClenon; older brother, Charles Adams (Phyllis); special friend, Trenece Singleton and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
