On Friday April 21, 2023 David went home to be with the Lord. He was a loving father, devoted husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. David was born August 3, 1937 in Loris, South Carolina to the late Albert Reed and Alberta Hickman Reed.
David served in the US Navy. He transitioned into the Newport News Shipyard where he worked and retired after forty-two years of service as a Master Shipbuilder.
David was a funny, caring and giving person. He loved fishing, eating good (Carolina) food, boating, barbecuing and working on several different projects. He loved working with his hands, carpentry, restoring furniture, fixing cars and maintenance on his house. No matter what he was doing, he would always speak; there were no strangers to him. He was always cracking jokes. He would always help people, no matter who you were. He was totally a family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Reed, Sr. and Alberta Hickman Reed; sister, Roxanne Fields; brother, Albert Reed, Jr.
David leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Stella Watkins-Reed; four children by his former deceased wife Grace Reed; son, Steve Reed (Evelyn); daughters, Phyllis Watkins (Kevin), Charolette McMillian (Robert) and Karen Reed; two brothers, Madison Williams (Woodsie) and Billy Gause; one sister, Pauline Reed; five grandchildren, Steven Reed (Renita), Dallas Reed, Vena Reed, Caleb Reed and Immanuel Porter; two great grandchildren, Reniya Reed and Jamil Reed and a host of other dear cousins, nieces, nephews and family members.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away”. Revelation 21:4
