Our dearly beloved Mother (sister, brother, aunt, grandmother and friend) Delores Marie Bivins was called home on Sunday February 08, 2026 at her residence. She was born on March 27, 1936 in Hampton, Virginia, the daughter of the late Earl Blackley and Vernette Blackley with six siblings; Earl Blackley, Burl Blackley, Mary "Cookie" Kelly, Jean Graham, Doretha Ruffin, and Michael Blackley.
Delores survived in death by her three children, Wilbur Bivins, Deborah Gresham and Andre Bivins. And preceded by Karen "Penny" Shepherd. She lovingly raised JoAnn Chandler as her own daughter and embraced her daughter-in-love, Brenda Elam-Clark, with warmth and care.
She leaves behind nine grandchildren; Duane Parham, Jermaine Parham, Stephanie Parham, Anthony Bivins, Nicole Brown, Jamal Brown, Michael Chandler, and Tina Chandler and 19 great grandchildren.
Delores retired from the VA Hospital as a dietitian and after retirement she took on other jobs as a teacher aid and cafeteria monitor.
Delores joined Antioch Baptist Church in 1982 and serviced over 40 years. She was dedicated to the church and loved her new family. She loved the Lord all the way to her death. She truly was a women of Faith, integrity and honesty. She was filled with wisdom and a fresh breathe of inspiration, that will truly be missed. But the memories of her will be in our hearts always.
That's a true warrior for Christ, Amen.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
— Matthew 25:23
