God called home to rest one of his Dearest Angels
Delores Hazel Wilson was called home on Friday, September 8, 2023. Delores was born in Hampton, VA, on November 9, 1942, in the Old Dixie Hospital to Fred Ridley and Nannie Batten.
Delores attended George P. Phenix School which is nestled on the grounds of Hampton University.
On December 23, 1960, Delores married Clifton Wilson, Sr. They were the parents to five children: three boys and two girls. During their union, Clifton and Delores traveled to West Germany, Texas, Florida, and New Jersey among other places due to his military career.
Upon Clifton’s retirement, they returned to Hampton, VA, in 1985, where Delores worked and retired from the Fort Monroe Commissary in 2003 as a GS12.
Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Wilson, Sr.; two sons, Darryl Wilson and Michael Wilson (Martha); and her parents, Nannie and Stanley Batten, and Fred Ridley.
Delores was a strong and dear mother, sister, and friend to many. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Clifton Wilson Jr (Justine); daughters, Demetria Yarber and Monique Wilson; sisters, Vanessa Kroger (Paul), and Debra Smith; brother, Stanley Batten (Sharron); granddaughters, Cameka Wright (Carl), Janee Wilson, Mary Singleton (Keane), Corrie Williams (John), Mariah and Calah Wilson; grandsons, Prince Wyley Yarber, Thaddeus Williams, Robert Ross, Keon Ross, Tayvon Graves, Westin Wilson-Jones; and 24 great grandchildren.
