Donald Jean “Punchy” Nowlin was born on November 11, 1960, at Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch, West Virginia. He was the eighth child born to James “Buck” Nowlin and Gracie Cobbs Nowlin of Kimball, West Virginia. Donald departed this life on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, Virginia.
Donald resided in Kimball, West Virginia until he graduated from Mount View High School in 1979. Shortly after graduating from high school, Donald joined the United States Army. After serving in the Army for 10 years he was honorably discharged. After working various jobs in different states, he finally settled down in Hampton, Virginia. While living here in Hampton, Donald’s favorite pastimes were taking long walks on the boardwalk and hanging out with his friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael “Mike” Nowlin; and a sister, Charlene “Susie” Minnis.
Donald leaves many cherished memories to his daughter, Dominique Nowlin of Pirmasens, Germany; his five siblings, Frederick “Freddie” (Renita) Nowlin of Ft. Washington, Maryland, James “Jimmy” (Birgit) Nowlin of Petersburg, Virginia, Robert “Bobby” (Kathy) Nowlin of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Betty (Dr. Larry) Stewart of Forsyth, Georgia and his twin, Ronald (Angela) Nowlin of Hopewell, Virginia; one aunt, Ramona “Aunt Boots” Cobbs of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins, and other relatives and his close friends.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Gone but never forgotten.
