Elveter Ann Bernard was born on 06/23/1944 at 666 Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Knowledge and Miriam Wilder. She was the third child of six children. She was predeceased by her parents and five siblings.

She moved to Queens, N.Y. at an early age and attended P.S. 37,  J.H.S. 59, and then graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She met the love of her life, Winston Bernard in Junior High School and they were married on April 06, 1963. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Daryl and Duane.

Elveter always had a smile for you when she saw you. She also had an open house for the neighborhood children that stopped by just to hang  out. She was secretary of Laurel Springs bowling league for 10 years. She faithfully worked for Airborne Freight( which is now DHL) and retired with 25 years of service.

She was a very quiet and private person, along with being an excellent cook, and everyone knows that her homemade potato salad was to die for!!! Elveter was a member of Bethel AME Church in Hampton Iand served on the Senior Usher Board until her illness.

Elveter leaves to mourn her husband, Winston Bernard, two sons, Daryl (Corlis), Duane (future daughter in-law Detris Knotts), three grandchildren, Briyanna, Duane, and Kayvonn, and a great-grandchild, Karmichael. She also leaves to mourn a special best friend Joan Smith and her god-daughter Tonya, and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Elveter will truly be missed by all of her family and friends.
