Erline Virginia Jackson

Erline Virginia Jackson entered eternal rest on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was born on August 30, 1931, in Lebanon, Illinois to Clarence and Carrie Willis. Erline entered matrimony with her late husband George W. Jackson and was blessed with two daughters and three sons. She was devoted to her family. She always stressed the importance of education, hard work and success. She was compassionate, loving and giving to everyone who knew her. She was an avid reader, gardener, and enjoyed her church, Cornerstone Worship Center, where she was a longtime member. Erline was happiest having family and friends around especially during the holidays and birthdays. She worked at the Hampton Veterans Administration Hospital for over 20 years with an incredible gift of patience and understanding. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Jackson, her parents, 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Left to cherish precious memories are her children Jacquelyn A. Larkin Bishop (Dennis), Hampton, VA; Gwendolyn L. Toombs, Hampton, VA; George R. Jackson, Hampton, VA; Michael A. Jackson, Newport News, VA; and Brian K. Jackson (Tammy), Richmond, VA. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Erline is also survived by three sisters, Pauline Rhea, of Cleveland, OH; Aletha Watkins (William) of Clinton, MD; and Sharon Cannon, (Joe, deceased), Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers Ralph Willis (Minnie), Cleveland, OH; Dwight Willis, Cleveland, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Her example of love, strength and commitment will always serve us well.
