George Taylor Jr. was born in Rocky Mount, NC on October 15, 1938, George was the son of the late George Taylor Sr and Beatrice Taylor. He was one of four children. Predeceased by his brother, Percy Taylor and sister, Eula Dowd and survived by sister, Betty Thorpe.
George accepted Christ in 1977 and remained on fire for Christ ever sense. He served in ministry wearing multiple servant hats. He faithfully attended Bethel Temple Church. His love for his church family was one of his greatest joys. Everyone he met he would faithfully ask, “Do you know Jesus?” He never met a stranger and would share his faith with everyone. He loved sharing pearls of wisdom in stories whether in family gatherings or one on one. You often left his presence better.
George was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company as a Master Welder . Since a young boy George was always fascinated by fast cars and racing. He eventually turned his passion into reality when he joined Pro Stock Drag Racing. Running tracks in “Big T’s Half breed” his 1964 black Chevy Malibu. After retiring from the Shipyard, he officially opened Taylor’s Auto Repair Center, Newport News, VA. Where his passion for cars continued until his retirement in 2009.
On September 16, 2022, George Taylor Jr. transitioned from this life to eternal life, he leaves to cherish his memory his bride of 63 years Rosa Lee Taylor, and four children Linda Taylor-Hatfield (Bernard) of Hampton, VA, Michael Taylor (Melissa) of Newport News, VA Star Brown (Michael) of Newport News, VA Rodney Taylor (Trina) of Hampton, VA Grandchildren – Tikisha Parker, Gregory Taylor, Anthony Taylor (Erica) Tyrod Taylor and Washi Taylor. Great grandchildren- Tajuan Taylor (Kayla) and Jovon Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins’ aunts, relatives, and friends. In each of us, his legacy lives on!
