Gladys Marie White at 83 years old, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
She was born on February 10, 1939, to the late Malon and Gracie Eason in Ahoskie, NC. She married the love of her life, Edward Lee White Sr. on October 24, 1955. Her marital union with “Doc”, (as he was affectionately known) resulted in six children.
Gladys was a woman of great strength, determination, integrity, and wisdom. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 4, 1967. She was a zealous witness for 56 years! She loved her God Jehovah and spoke of him to all who would give her a listening ear.
Gladys was one who loved to travel so she planned many bus trips, which was accompanied by many of her Christian brothers and sisters. Some of her drivers were requested by her such as Joe Newby, Mr. Butts, and Mr. Tennessee. They traveled to places like California, Canada, New Orleans, Atlanta, New York (Bethel) and more, but the most important trips, as one sister said, was “to Jehovah’s place of worship”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Shirley Banks, one brother, Jimmy Eason Sr., and one son, Thomas E. White.
She is survived by four sons, Grayling L White (Doreen), Stoney White, Keith White, and Edward L White Jr., also known as Junie; one daughter, Daphne Davis (Andrew); one daughter-in-law, Diane White; grandchildren: Shakela Adkinson, Anthony White, Tre’ White, Qwentin White, Derrell White, Marquita White, Sheree White, LaMiah Rogers, Joi White, LaMonte White, Pierre Davis (Yolanda), LeRon Davis (Antionette); one sister-in-law, Mary Eason; a special niece, Katrina Wiggins and Kathy Benthall; 16 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
