Hazel Austin

Hazel Austin of 1411 Woodcrest Drive Hampton Virginia departed this life on Saturday May 21, 2022.

She was born on November 2, 1931 in Harnett County to the late Eddie and Mary "Samp" McNeill.

She was the last of her 8 siblings who proceeded her in death.

Aunt Hazel as many called her lived in Harnett County until moving to Virginia as a young adult where she made her home with her late husband Arthur Austin.

She worked at Coats and Clark Zipper in Virginia before retiring.

Aunt Hazel had no genetic children of her own, but she helped raise and instill a great deal of love and happiness in many of her nieces and nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memories many nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Too many to name without leaving someone off, but please know that she loved us all

A special niece, friend and caretaker Grace Calloway of the home who has been with her for many years. Also, Fara Sloan, a special family friend and caretaker for aunt Hazel for all of her last days here.

Aunt Hazel gave us instructions up to her last moments, she orchestrated her own obituary and funeral services. Although her last place of residence was in Virginia, she requested that we obtained her last resting place to be surrounded by family in Harnett County NC.
