Obituary

Helen Robinson MacRae was born to Earnest and Ida Robinson of Newport News, Virginia on August 19, 1918. 

 

Helen accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age at Second Baptist Church East End. She was awarded Mother of the Church on May 6, 2015. Helen was awarded Woman of the Year for faithful and dedicated service on June 25, 2017.

 

Helen was educated in Newport News Public Schools. She loved to sew and dress hair. Helen was an entrepreneur, she was a taxi driver in New York City and a hairdresser. 

Helen met the love of her life Lewis B. MacRae. The two didn’t have children of their own, but had several special nieces: Pamella (deceased), Lenore, Stephanie (deceased), and Pamella Rae.

Helen had a love for horse racing. She gained this love because she could see the horse races from her bedroom window as a child. 

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis B. MacRae. Her parents, Earnest and Ida Robinson and sister, Lilian Lovett (PA). All of her brother and sister-in-law, three nieces and three nephews. She leaves to treasure her memories to Virginia Coles (sister) and a host of nieces and nephews who live in Virginia and New Jersey.
