Jerry Lee Phillips Sr., 59, of Lawrenceville, Va, was granted eternal rest on November 10, 2024 after a well fought battle with cancer.
Jerry Lee Phillips Sr was born on December 30, 1964 to Sarah (Stokes) Williams and Thomas Junior Phillips Sr. in Dolphin, Va. Jerry was also known as Phillip or Lee to a host of family and friends.
After attending Brunswick High School Jerry dedicated 13 years of service to the United States Army, where he was a combat medic. After serving his country he worked at Eastern State Hospital as well as the V.A. Hospital in Richmond, VA. Jerry had an immense passion for helping others.
In 1984 Jerry met Beverly (Russell) Phillips of Hampton, Va. they were married three months later on July 15th and were married for 20 years. They had three children during their union. Ce’ Ann, Latrese, and Jerry Jr.
After many years of service and helping others Jerry spent his time with family. Family was extremely important to him. He always had a joke to tell. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting, and hosting gatherings at his home. Jerry was also an amazing cook. His good ol’ country cooking will be missed by many.
Jerry was predeceased in death by his father Thomas Junior Phillips Sr., his brother Thomas Junior Phillips Jr., Grandmother Emma (Green) Phillips and Grandfather Eddie Phillips.
He was survived in death by his ex-wife Beverly Phillips of Hampton, Va. his children Ce’ Ann (Phillips) Jones (Douglas) of Newport News, VA. Latrese (Phillips) Parks (Octavius) Smithfield, Va. Jerry Phillips Jr. (Rahdezhea) of Lawerenceville, Va. His mother Sarah (Stokes) Williams, His brothers: Sylvester Phillips (Julie), Ronald Phillips (Kiyoko), and Eddie Phillips. He was a loving grandfather to nine: Jabarri, John lll, Iris, Jace, Lily-Ann, Roman, Khari, Jerry lll, and Legend. He leaves behind a multitude of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews who he cherished and loved deeply.
Jerry Lee Phillips Sr., a beacon of joy, laughter, and love will forever reside in our hearts. His legacy exemplified by his service and compassion for others, will continue to inspire and guide us. As we grapple with the loss of his physical presence, we find solace in knowing that being absent from the body means to be present with the Lord. We will forever miss the love he instilled in us.
