John Edward Shepperson entered into eternal rest, unexpectedly, Monday, March 7, 2022, at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Hampton, VA.
John, affectionately called “Kool Breeze”, was born June 6, 1960 in Hampton, VA to his parents, the late, John H. Golden, Sr. and Virginia Shepperson, He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Geneva Scott-Jones, his brother Howard E. Shepperson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was a lifelong Hampton resident and a product of its public schools. After graduating from Hampton High School in 1978, he joined the United States Army. Following basic training, he was stationed in Germany and later Fort Bliss, Texas where he worked in his MOS as a “Nike Hercules Missile Crewman”. He was formerly employed with Amory’s Seafood, Inc., for approximately 25 years as a Seafood Processor.
He was a gifted artist, and guitar player. “Kool Breeze” enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. While stationed in Germany, he became a Disc Jockey at one of the clubs, where “Kool Breeze” was adopted as his stage name. And, according to him, he was one of the best “black-top” basketball players around!
He leaves to cherish his memories a son Carlos Smith, a daughter Marteisha Smith, a granddaughter Faith Renee Smith, a brother John H. Golden, Jr. (Evelyn), his hanging buddies cousins; Emmanuel, Larry, Gary and Norman Golden, and a host of other relatives and friends. Kool Breeze will truly be missed by all who loved him!
