Kenneth Evans Scott Jr., (aka Kenny, Jr.) peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Sentara Careplex of Hampton. Kenny was the oldest son of Kenneth Evans Scott Sr. and Minnie A. Scott, both preceding him in death as well as siblings, Sandra Renee Scott Brown, Donald A. Scott, Roland L. Scott, Kevin T. Scott, nephew B.J. Elam, and sisters-in-laws Sarah P. Scott, Thelma Scott and Donna Scott.
Kenny Jr. was born in Valdosta, Georgia. He was educated in Hampton City Schools and graduated from Phenix High School.
Kenny Jr., proudly served in the United States Army rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class. Throughout his storied twenty-two-year (22) military career, he served at a host of military installations in the Continental United States as well as tours outside of the country, that included Korea, culminating two tours of Vietnam before retiring honorably from the Army. After his retirement from the Army, Kenny went on to work for Wackenhut Security just to keep. himself engaged because of his strong work ethic.
Kenny enjoyed sitting in the backyard smoking his pipe in his younger years and had a gift that most didn't know about and that was his drawings. Being the oldest, Kenny seemed to enjoy his family more than anything and loved pulling the occasional prank on his younger brothers. Even in his later years, he enjoyed a good joke.
Kenny saw himself as the protector to his siblings and promised he would always look out for them and that he did to the best of his ability. When his health started to wane, against the advice of his siblings, he chose to live in a healthcare facility rather than burden his family.
Kenny Jr. leaves a legacy of humor, love, and caring for all those he held close until he answered his call to Glory.
Kenneth leaves to treasure his memory: an only child, Joanne Scott of Hampton, sisters: Elizabeth S. Lewis, Ellamae S. Jones, and T'Nora Green Doyle all of Hampton; 4 brothers: Vernon E. Scott, Randolph M. Scott (Portia), James E. Scott Sr. (Willa), and Steven L. Scott (Berna); nieces: Trina R. Brown, April Scott, Kelley Lopez, Khededra R. Lewis, Tara S. Sheely and T'Nora Danielle Davis, Lavonda Witcher and Terri Scott; nephews: Michael Brown, James Scott Jr, Christopher Scott, Marcus Jones, Brandon Scott, Brian Scott, David Scott, Darryl Scott and David Wehr; his Aunt Louise Warlick of Minnesota; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends across the country.
Let Kenneth Evans Scott Jr., be remembered for the vibrant man he was.
