Born Laurine Nyeda Goolsby, at Fort Monroe, Virginia on January 29, 1950. Her father was Troy Goolsby and her mother was Ethel Mae Goolsby. She had an older brother, Willie Troy Goolsby, and an older sister, Geraldine Goolsby. She married Bob Johnson, they had two daughters Shonda Y. Sharpe, and Nicole Sharpe, but they later divorced. She met Leon Laney, who became Michael Johnson's father. Leon Laney remained a close friend, support, and comfort to the family.
Laurine never finished High School but she did get her GED. She was a diligent worker. She worked at the Chamberlian Hotel cleaning rooms. She also worked for Ames Cleaners for 32 years. She was the best presser they had.
She loved to see people enjoy her food. Some of her specialties were fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and coconut cake. She also loved to crochet, and going to the movies with family and friends.
She first came in contact with Bible truths in the mid 1970's. She came to know and love Jehovah and dedicated her life as one of His Witnesses in 2008.
Her parents, siblings and ex-husband preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories, Leon Laney, three children, Shonda Y. Sharpe, Nicole Sharpe, and Michael Johnson, grandchildren, Tamal Sharpe, Shekita Sharpe, Domonique Sharpe, Darryl Sharpe, great-grandchildern, Desiree Sharpe, Lanyla Sharpe, Iyana Sharpe, nieces, Quindia Davis, Sonja Mills, Arnita Hollier, nephew, Hayword Goolsby, cousins, spiritual family and a friend of the family, Lewis Jones.
