Lena Renee Borden Moore, the only child of Lewis and Lena Borden, was born on December 18, 1950. She passed into God’s hands January 1, 2025. Renee, as she was called by close friends and family, was a 1969 graduate of Pembroke High School. After high school, she attended Virginia State University for one year before marrying the love of her life, Howard V. Moore. From their union two daughters, Tracey and Renita, were born.
Renee worked in the Hampton City School system as a teacher’s aide for six years before joining Avon Fashion Company. She worked at Avon for 19 years where she met life-long friends who enjoyed endless laughter and making enjoyable memories together both in the workplace and as a part of each other’s family lives. Renee’s warm smile and kind heart touched all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Her generous spirit endeared her to many as simply “Miss Renee,” who they could always count on for a quick joke or simply to be a listening ear at a difficult time. Renee’s self-proclaimed greatest joy in this life was being a mother and grandmother. She considered her daughters and grandsons to be her greatest accomplishments and took great pride in rearing, guiding, and loving them as only she could. As a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and any other title she may have assumed... she led with great sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and most important of all, love. In all that she did, from the smallest gestures to the more grandiose, Renee was love personified.
Renee is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard V. Moore; daughters, Tracey McLeod and Renita Smith-Moore; daughter-in-law, Krystal Smith-Moore; grandsons, Anthony and Bryce McLeod; bonus grandson, Jalen (Samuela) Smith, along with a host of additional family and friends.
