Linda Collins Smith

Linda C. Smith, 76 years old, of Virginia Beach, VA, transitioned peacefully on July 3, 2025. Born in Newport, Rhode Island, she was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Carr, mother, Mariana Ventura Carr, sisters, Alice Portlock and Carol Carr, and brother, Edward Tinsley. 

Linda attended school in Newport, Rhode Island, Graston, CN, and Hampton, VA where she graduated from Phenix High School and as a proud Pirate and majorette.

She worked for many years at Verizon, retiring in 2011. It was here that Linda met many friends who eventually became family.

A radiant light in every room she entered, Linda lived her life with infectious joy and unwavering kindness. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a perfectly timed one-liner that left everyone laughing.

Linda loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. She built her life around family and friends. Her love was a force that held people together, and her friendships lasted a lifetime. Linda and her MAG 24/7 sister friend group have been friends for over 55 years. 

She believed in serving others wholeheartedly. Whether serving with her Relevant Church family, helping someone in need, or simply lending an ear to a friend, Linda embodied a servant’s heart. Her generosity and compassion touched countless lives.

Known to be quite the shopper, Linda had an amazing eye for finding the right outfit or gift. If you went shopping with her, each trip was a chance to laugh, bond, and make memories. She had a gift for interior design. She was often sought after for advice from family and friends when decorating their home.

Through it all, Linda embraced life fully — She lived well, loved well, and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, David Carr, daughter, Andrea C. Tatum, granddaughters, Tabitha Wilson, Lily Grace Mariana Tatum, and Lauryn Tatum, grandsons, Theodore Wilson and Julian Jones, three great grandchildren, her dedicated sister, Roxane C. Thompson, and nephews, David Portlock, Anthony Carr (Renee) and Carlos Carr (Renee) as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her beyond measure.
