Mary Gillan Charity, better known as "Apple" was born on April 8, 1970, in Albany, Georgia to Helen F. Ellison and the late William Gillan. Mary received her high school diploma from Westover High School in Albany, Georgia in 1988.
Following high school, Mary served her country by entering the United States Navy in 1989. She was stationed in San Diego, California, where she gave birth to her son Travion and met her husband, Shawn. They married in 2002 and settled in Hampton, Virginia. From this union, they had a daughter, Alana, who, with sorrow, passed away during childbirth. Mary retired from the United States Postal Service in 2018 with 28 years of dedicated Federal Service. Mary loved being with her family; she liked to travel and go on vacation with family and friends, and she enjoyed playing BINGO.
Mary leaves a legacy of joy, laughter, love, and strength. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Shawn, of twenty-one years; sons: Travion Hill (Mallory), Thierry Charity; Mother: Helen Ellison; Mother-in-Law: Sandra Charity; sisters: Angela Frazier, Tameka Frazier, Barbara Ellison, Sherry Marshall, Jackie Davis; brother: William Gillan Jr.; grandchildren: Audrey, Sophia, Noah,
and Madison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
