Mary M. Sutton Homegoing Sunrise December 24, 1932 - Sunset September 16, 2025 Mary Malinda (Etheridge) Sutton was born in Windsor, North Carolina to the late Janie (Roulac) Etheridge and Jessie Etheridge. Mary married the late William Thomas Sutton from Windsor, North Carolina.They had two children, Thelma Mae Washington (Sutton) and the late Thomas Jefferson Sutton. Mary relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts where she eventually worked at ITT Technical Institute until her retirement. Mary was an active member of Third Baptist Church in Lawrence, MA where she was a dedicated participant of the Hospitality Committee and the Senior Choir. Her greatest pastimes were puzzles and crocheting. Mary unfailingly loved taking care of children, family, and friends. She had a charming sense of humor and always had a knack for making people laugh and smile. She later relocated to Hampton,Virginia in 2011 where she accompanied her daughter, son, granddaughter, great grandchildren, and son-in-law. Furthermore, Mary became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she loved praising God. She also relished attending the PACE senior center on a weekly basis until her passing. Here is where she met friends and participated in many activities; her favorite being dancing. She also enjoyed traveling to see family and close friends within the U.S. Mary leaves to cherish her memory with her late husband William T. Sutton; children Thelma M. Washington, and Thomas J. Sutton (who preceded her in death); Grandchildren Rueben A. Sutton, Consuela Speller (Johnson), grand son-in-law Jeffrey Speller Sr., Anthony T. Sutton, Selah Bender (Sutton); Great grandchildren Chantel M. Speller, Surina R. Speller, Jeffrery Speller Jr., Jhayde A. Negron (Sutton), and Malik Sutton, Cassius Sutton, Cali Bender, and Ashton Bender; Great-great grandchild Robert Negron; Goddaughter Ta’Nynee Washington; Lastly, but not least, her only living sibling, Moncila Bridgett who resides in Windsor, North Carolina; siblings Annie (Etheridge) Shannon, Charlotte Parker, Janie Allston, Frances Speller, Willie Earl Etheridge, Charlie Etheridge, Carl Etheridge, Jessie Edward Etheridge Jr. (who preceded her in death), as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
