On Friday, September 2, 2022, Michael A. Winder transitioned to his heavenly home. He is now eternally resting with our Heavenly Father.
He was born on December 21, 1967, to the late James R. Winder and Shirley G. Winder in Dixie Sentara Hospital in Hampton, VA.
“Big Mike”, as he was lovingly called, was educated by the Hampton Public School system, graduating from Hampton High School. He worked at Langley Air Force Base for a while and later was employed by Pembroke Construction where he worked for 17 years.
He enjoyed watching old TV shows, especially the westerns; fishing and traveling was also his passion. Big Mike was a member of Club United. He collected and refurbished old cars and prepared them for racing. He also loved watching football with his friends.
He and the love of his life met many years ago and reunited approximately 4 years ago; they were planning on spending the rest of their lives together.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gwendolyn M. Smith.
Left to cherish his most precious memories are his soul mate, Gigi J. Winder; 2 bonus sons, Christopher K. Chapman and Jullian D. Chapman; 6 bonus grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved his fur babies, Bronx and Pepper who will also miss him. Big Mike may be gone but he will never be forgotten.
