On Sunday, March 19, 2023, Millie Lee Reshay quietly and peacefully answered her Father’s call to come home.
Millie was born on February 5, 1964 to her loving and caring parents, the late Robert and Margie Bennett.
She was educated by the Hampton City Public School System and later became a PCA at Caring and Sharing Living Facilities where she worked for 10 years. She was an asset to her job and was loved by the residents and staff.
Millie Reshay was hired on November 29, 2016 where she worked in the Outreach Department until she retired on February 28, 2023. She was the designated MASS Transitional Housing Manager for three years. She represented the MASS Culinary Arts Program from which she was a graduate. Millie was also the self-proclaimed, “BEST COOK EVER”. In 2017 she represented the entire state and spoke at a conference regarding continued funding for programs such as the Culinary Arts Program. In 2018, as a graduate of the Newport News Drug Court, Millie was afforded the opportunity to go on the Spirit of Norfolk Lunch cruise. She spoke passionately about her journey. There was not a dry eye on the boat; people were so moved by her speech. She was an intrepid storyteller. She had a way of making you sit on the edge of your seat waiting for the next part of the story.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Calvin Bennett and Robert Wright.
She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Bennet of Hampton, VA and Vanessa Rice of Texas; nieces and nephews, Nellie Harris, Isaac Harris and Jacob Davis all of Hampton, VA, Andre Christian of Spain, Antonio Christian, Andrea Christian, Kari Evans all of Texas and a host of great nieces and nephews and other family members.
Gone, but never forgotten. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
