Milton Smith Obituary

The family of the late Milton R. Smith are deeply mournful by the homegoing of their beloved one, however, we are at peace knowing that the sunset for his life here on earth; however, the sun rose in heaven where he now dwells comfortably and peacefully, no more agony or discomfort in as much as he is now at peace in the presence of our Almighty Heavenly Father, praise be to Thee.

Milton R. Smith, whom as youngsters his nieces and nephews lovingly referred to him as T-man, as to why is inexplicable.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. Smith, Sr. and Nina P. Smith, a loving wife, Juanita Smith, five siblings: Ethel M. Price, Levester Tucker, Ann H. White, Walter H. Smith, Jr., otherwise known as Buddy and Darcus L. Smith, otherwise known as Lou. He leaves to cherish his life a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Shortly after graduation from George P. Phenix High School in Hampton he enlisted in the Army of the United States from which he was honorably discharged on February 28,1962. Upon his discharge he returned to Hampton, Va. where he sought employment and was hired by the Newport News Shipyard, the longtime place of employment from which he retired.  Milton was a dedicated longtime member of the Queen Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon (his dear, sweet mother beamed with pride for him inasmuch as she strongly advocated and instilled the idea of religion in each of her children as well as her grandchildren). He doted upon his longtime wife so much so that he took great measures to procure a burial plot next to hers so that they would be next to one another in death as they were in life. He was truly a spectacular human being who genuinely loved his family with every fiber of his being and amply demonstrated such. He will be sorely missed by all whom loved him, of which there were many.  Through it all, our Heavenly Father permitted this spectacular man to be in the lives of those who genuinely loved him for a generously lengthy period of time. We give our Father in Heaven all of the gratitude, praise and honor for permitting His son and our dear loved one to be a part of our lives for a lengthy period of time.  We are keenly aware that he is now in a better place.  We are confident that he will rest well inasmuch as our dearest loved one now dwells peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
