Phyllis Louise (Everette) Pugh, Beloved Mother, Cherished Nana, and Devoted Sister
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Phyllis who peacefully departed from this world at the age of 70. Phyllis, daughter of the late Bernice (Porter) Everette and John W. Everette, transitioned on April 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and unwavering love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
Born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Phyllis’ family moved to Hampton Roads in 1961. She graduated from Kecoughtan High School (1972). Phyllis was married to Zephaniah Pugh, Jr. and through that union they were blessed with a daughter, Tracy Pugh. As a mother, she epitomized boundless love. Her embrace was a source of comfort and strength for her daughter, guiding her through life with grace. Her unconditional love knew no bounds, and her perseverance served as a constant source of inspiration. To her grandchildren, Kemani and Aaron, Nana was a source of endless motivation and patience. Her eyes sparkled with pride and delight as she watched them grow, imparting invaluable lessons and showering them with affection at every turn. She cherished each moment spent in their company, treasuring the laughter and love they shared.
As a sister to Willie M. Everette, Wayne L. Everette, Winfred D. Everette (deceased) and Wade M. Everette, sister-in-law, and sister-friend to countless others, Phyllis was a steadfast companion and confidante. Through life's highs and lows, she stood by her brothers and closest friends with unwavering support, offering solace and strength in times of need. Her presence brought comfort and reassurance.
Beyond her roles as a mother, grandmother, and sister, Phyllis touched the lives of all who knew her with her lively spirit and generosity. Her favorite delight was spending time with family and friends. She leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but the memories of time spent with family and friends will be cherished for a lifetime.
Though she may be physically absent, Phyllis will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her unwavering dedication to family will serve as a guiding light, providing solace and fortitude during these challenging times.
In honoring Phyllis’ memory, let us celebrate the life she lived and the love she shared. May her compassion and tenacious spirit continue to inspire us all, serving as a reminder of the power of love to transcend even the deepest sorrow.
