Regina Crayton Obituary

Born December 21, 1933 in Washington D.C to John Joseph Mayo and Josephine Dorothy Graves Mayo, departed this life Friday July 12, 2024 at 3:30am. Regina was the oldest of seven children and was proceeded in death by her mother and father, sisters Anita and Dorothy, twin brothers James and John, son Philip and daughter Lucy.  Regina has two surviving sisters Joanne Mangum and Ruth Khemraj.

Regina graduated from Dunbar High School in 1952. Having a heart to serve pursued a Career in nursing and graduating as a Registered Nurse from St. Kathrin Laboure School of Nursing in Boston Massachusetts. Her love for people made this a perfect career for her. During her schooling, she met and married Samuel S. Crayton Jr. With just one look in those eyes, he captured her heart. They had five children of which three have survived her. Paul D. Crayton, Elizabeth A. Williams, and Samuel S. Crayton III, Four grandsons Phillip Crayton and Travis Crayton, Jimmy Williams (Liz Williams) and Andrew Williams (Lashonda Williams), one granddaughter AnniciaStreete-Kirmse (Stephen Kirmse), Nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She also had Nieces, Nephews, Sisters and Brothers in-love and a host of friends.

Regina was a born-again believer who loved the Lord and shared him everywhere and with everyone she encountered. She loved singing, playing the piano, and watching Halmark movies. She loved everyone unconditionally and never met a stranger. She was a giver and was always lending a helping hand with her time, talent, treasures, and wisdom. She will be deeply missed.
