Renon James Sumpter Jr.

Renon James Sumpter Jr., affectionately known as RJ, was born on November 2, 1955, and went Home to the Lord Jesus Christ peacefully on December 7, 2025. RJ was a dedicated Marine whose unwavering commitment led him to serve his country honorably in two wars in the Persian Gulf. His courage, loyalty, and sense of duty were evident to all who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of service and patriotism.

RJ’s life was marked by his devotion not only to his country but also to his family, friends, and community. His steadfast spirit and kind heart touched many lives, and his memory will remain an inspiration for generations to come.

Service Arrangements:

A viewing to honor and remember RJ will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, located at 545 East Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA 23663-0031.

Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by RJ are invited to join in celebrating his remarkable legacy and paying their final respect
