Renon James Sumpter Sr.

Renon Sumpter was born in Hemingway, South Carolina. As a teen, he relocated to Hampton, Virginia and later graduated from Phoenix High School. He also served in the United States Navy before retiring. Renon Sumpter was a friend to everyone he met. He was generous and kind, with a radiant smile and a great sense of humor. His family and grandchildren were his pride and joy as he shared many of their milestones proudly. He especially enjoyed his church where he worked on various committees, sang in the senior choir, and generously supported for many years.  He was extremely dedicated to his position as an Elder. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching CNN and other major news programs while entertaining lively discussions about current events. He worked as Sole Proprietor in his own excavating business, faithfully until the time of his long-term illness. Renon Sumpter leaves behind a host of family and friends who are grateful for the time shared with him. He will be greatly missed.
