Roderick Ian Foster fell asleep in death on Monday, August 8th, 2022 at his family home in Hampton VA. Roderick was a life-long resident of Hampton, VA.
Roderick was the youngest of 5 children born to William ‘Billy’ Foster and Edith Hundley Foster. He was born March 10, 1966 in Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Edith, his brother, William Dougless Foster, and nephew Kevin Sutton all of Hampton. He is survived by two brothers, Steven Foster Sr. of Lawrenceville, GA, Darrel Foster and a sister Deneen Wilson of Hampton, VA, as well as 8 neices and nephews and a host aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family that love and will truly miss him.
Roderick attended Phoebus High School and graduated in 1983. In school he was member of the marching band and played the slide trombone. While singing at the kingdom Hall he loved reading the musical notes as he joined singing along with the congregation. Many would be surprised to learn that he was a skilled illustrator and enjoyed art. He LOVED sports! His favorite football team was the Los Angeles Raiders and his favorite basketball team was the Portland Trail Blazers. He wore his Raiders hat often with much pride. Roderick had many good conversations with friends about his favorite teams. He received technical training at ECPI Colledge of Technology which aided him as an adult. He then worked for Avon Fashions Newport News, Bank of America, Norfolk VA, Hampton Department of Social Services and Cox Communications in Hampton.
Roderick’s first love was that of Jehovah God. He began a deep, personal study of the Bible as a 17 year-old youth. He eventually dedicated his life to Jehovah and got baptized Oct 21, 1989. He willingly and tirelessly offered himself for many privileges in service to Jehovah in the Buckroe Congration of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Roderick was known for sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom. Why did he do that? Because the Bible truths and promises spoke to his heart. John 17:3 “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.”
