Rodney Andre Diamond

Rodney Diamond was born on August 9, 1973, and departed this life on October 16. 2022. Rodney was a life-long resident of Hampton, VA. He was formally educated in the Hampton City School system and graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1991. After a brief career in the Army, he returned home to Hampton, VA where he lived until his death.

     Rodney worked many years at Food Lion while pursuing and completing a degree at ECPI. Rodney graduated at the top of his class. He later worked at Sprint, where he won many awards for top salesperson. Rodney was preceded in death by his mother Vanessa Diamond, his grandmother Elizabeth Braxton, and his uncle Clarence Diamond.

     Rodney is survived by two sisters, Deidre Diamond-Jones (James), Erica Parham and one brother Craig Diamond. In addition, Rodney leaves behind two uncles Roy Diamond (Daphne) and Keith Diamond and two aunts Sonya Diggs (David) and Wanda Pope-Knight. The family would also like to thank Rodney’s loyal group of friends, John and Rhonda Johnson, Alicia Durrah, Oscar Webb and Vortorian Smith. They were always available to help during his illness.

     The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Memorial Party for Rodney on Friday October 28th, 2022, 5:30pm to 8:30pm at YH Thomas Community Center 1300 Thomas St. Hampton, VA 23669. On Saturday October 29, 2022, there will be a memorial service at Smith Brothers Funeral Home 545 E. Mercury Blvd. Hampton, VA 23663 from 3pm to 5pm.

       In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Diabetes Research Institute in Rodney’s Diamond’s name.
