Ronnie Joel Sessoms

Ronnie Joel Sessoms was born on December 24, 1952, in Bertie County, North Carolina.

He slipped into eternal rest at his home on July 9, 2023.

Ronnie loved sports. In 1968, he played football for Central High School in Cheyenne,

WY. His favorite sports teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Giants. He also enjoyed watching old western movies, "Gunsmoke" being his favorite.

He began working at the Base Exchange on Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA in the 1970's. He was employed for 39 years and retired in 2014.

In September of 1981, Ronnie married Bettie Batchelor of Rocky Mount NC.

He became a member of First Church of Newport News (Baptist) and attended church every Sunday until his health began to fail.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Johnnie Rochelle Wilson and close cousin,

Charlotte Renee Harmon.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 42 years, Bettie Sessoms; his uncle and

aunt who were his legal guardians for many years, Arthur and Mollie Harmon; his brother, Melvin Wilson (Ruth) a host of close cousins, other family members and friends.
