Samuel Martin Scott Sr.

Samuel Martin Scott, Sr. was called home to his eternal rest on Thursday, December 7, 2023.  He was born on May 13, 1942, to the late Evelyn Reid Scott and Winslow Scott in Newport News, VA. Samuel was a graduate of Huntington High in Newport News and went on to work at Newport News Shipyard & Drydock Co and Old Dominion Scrapyard as a crane operator. He later took pride in working as the Captain of Dr. William Harvey's Yacht at Hampton University.  

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Roy Scott, and son, Samuel M. Scott, Jr., and survived by one brother, William Thomas Scott. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. with a viewing 2 hours prior to service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Gospel Spreading Church, 1816 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA, followed by a burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
