Sandra Elizabeth Davis Davis, 86, was born October 14, 1937, in Lynchburg, Va. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023 God called Sandra home to rest eternally with him. Sandra was the middle child born to the late Evelyn Harris and Henry A. Davis, Jr. She was raised in Norfolk, VA and was the product of the Norfolk school system and graduated from Booker T. Washington High school. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree from Virginia State College in Petersburg, VA. She was formerly married to Robert E. Davis (deceased) and two beautiful children were born from that union. She was a prominent educator for 35 years in the State of Virginia. During her career she taught in Charles City County, Dinwiddie County, Petersburg and Richmond, working with students of all ages. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she was a part of the Willing Workers Ministry. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc, The National Education Association, The Virginia Education Association, and a former member of the National Council of Negro Women.
Memories of her generous spirit will forever be with her loving children, Damian A. Davis, Valencia M. Gross and devoted son-in-law Steven T. Gross. She will also be fondly missed by her sisters, Henrietta D. Grant (Robert), Marjorie D. Scott (Sterling-deceased); grandchildren, Morgan Elise Gross and Steven Carrington Gross; niece, Tania L. Chandler (Carl); nephews, Robin M. Grant and Sterling L. Scott (Kimberly); great-nephew, Myles D. Chandler; great nieces, Sydney D. Chandler and Sofia A. Scott; faithful friends, Connie Johnson and Jean Williamson and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Her spirit will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.
