Sharon Leigh Fowlkes

Sharon Leigh Fowlkes was the first born daughter of Ethel E. Fowlkes and the late Chester R. Fowlkes.  She was born on July 28, 1961 in Keysville, VA.  She departed this earthly world on Saturday, September 2, 2023 in Hampton, VA.

Sharon accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Holy Cross Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA.  She was baptized by the late Rev. Joseph Beatty.

Sharon attended Sayre Jr. High and graduated from West Philadelphia High in 1979.  Her first job was working at the Franklin Mint.  She also worked as a dietitian at Graduate Hospital and then the United States Post Office.  After retiring from the US Post Office she found her dream job at Hampton University as a Resident Monitor. 

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching her British and cooking shows.  Sharon’s greatest joy came from shopping; the girl loved to shop!

Sharon was predeceased by her father. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Ethel E. Fowlkes; sisters, Ethyl Freeman (David) and Jacqueline Fowlkes (Reginald); brother, Naholia; aunts, Barbara Gee, Bertha Jones (Carl); uncles, Albert Walker and Frank Walker; nephew, Christopher Freeman and a host of beloved family and friends.

As we mourn the loss of Sharon, let us also celebrate the joy she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever guide us, and her memory will live on through the stories we share. Sharon will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
