Shirley Langford Obituary

Shirley Ann Langford left her earthly life for her eternal life in Heaven with our Lord on June 25,2022 at the age of 88.  She was born on September 10, 1933, a daughter to Allan and Arlene Mitchell.  Shirley attended school in Hampton, VA, where she completed both her High School (Phoenix) education and later and attended and completed programs in Nursing.  On November 25, 1954, she married the love of her life, Timothy Whitney Langford.   To this union, three sons were born, Timothy, Antoine, and LeGrand.  A proud Military wife, she accompanied her husband while he served for 20 years in the United States Air Force.

Raised in a Christian home, Shirley learned early in life, her personal path.  She became a Christian at a young age and became a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Hampton, VA., where she remained a faithful and devoted member for over 50 years until her death.  As member of First Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Nursing Circle, and supported other Church Youth organizations, such as the Jewelettes and the local Church-sponsored Scout Chapter.

Her other affiliations included the Retired Armed Forces Women’s Auxiliary Club and the Order of the Eastern Stars.

Shirley really enjoyed spending time with her family.  Any occasion in which Shirley could gather with friends and family was an opportunity for her to bake delicious treats such as Boston Cream pie, Pineapple Upside Down cake and Banana pudding with Vanilla wafers, her Husband’s favorite.

She was an amazing woman, loving and devoted wife, caring Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and loyal friend, who would find happiness in the simple things, such as raising her children.  Shirley and her husband were a constant presence in supporting their children in Church activities, Sports and Music.  This love and devotion also extended to young people within the Church and Community.

Loving memories will be cherished by her sister, Sandra Field, her three sons, Timothy (Juana), Antoine (Cora), and LeGrand Langford, four Granddaughters, Virginia, Anna Rosa, Lizbeth, and Aisha, two Grandsons, LeGrand, Jr. and Christian and a loving extension of nieces, nephews, and other extend family.

Shirley is proceeded in death by her parents, Allan and Arlene Mitchell, and her husband, Timothy Langford.
