Tammy Lorraine Allen

Tammy Lorraine Allen, departed into eternal rest on Friday, February 11, 2022. Tammy, a native of Brooklyn, NY, resided in Atlanta, GA.  She began her education at Booker Elementary School in Hampton, VA. After finishing school, Tammy held a variety of jobs and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant. 

Tammy loved reading and writing. She will mostly be remembered for her printed work, which includes more than 18 published books, many of which celebrate the greatness of Black people. Her children and her books will be her legacy to our family.  

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Lonnie C. Jones and Lucy Banks Jones 
and grandmother, Lillie A. Allen.

She leaves to cherish her memories, four children, Corey Allen, Cartney “Dennis” Allen, Nyesha Allen, and Brazil Summers; mother, Thelma Herring; two brothers, Donnell Allen and Michael Allen; sister, Denise Allen; two grandsons, Dennis Tolbert Jr. and Danny Tolbert and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19th at Smith Brothers Chapel.
