Thomas Linwood Gatling Jr.

Thomas Linwood Gatling, Jr. was born on July 26, 1950, to the late Irea Elaine Harmon Gatling and the late Thomas Linwood Gatling,Sr. In Murfreesboro, NC, Hertford County.  He transitioned to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA. Thomas attended Riverview Elementary School and graduated from CS Brown High School in 1968.  At an early age he joined Parker’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC.    Thomas was united in marriage to Carolyn Newsome, with one son born of this union, Tracy Gatling (Marylin)of Franklin,VA.  Thomas was united in marriage to Ruby Darden and to this union was born, Thomas Gatling III, of Hampton,VA and Brandy Gatling of South Carolina to cherish his loving memory. Thomas was employed with the carpenters Union of Hampton, VA considered a master Carpenter at his trade.  Thomas was a generous soul and he loved having cookouts with family and friends. His favorite hobby was fishing. Thomas leaves to cherish his loving memories; four sisters, Cleo Gatling (Russell), of Como, NC, Barbara Archer of Winton, NC, Carolyn Gatling of Winton, NC, Sonia Logan (Robert) of Pittsboro, NC.  One aunt Cleo Valentine of Chesapeake,VA, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends
