He leaves to honor and cherish his precious memories: Two devoted daughters: Teresa A. Fields, or Woodbridge Virginia, and Vicky A. (Cyrus) Johnson of Warrenton, Virginia; One devoted son: Tyrone O. (Dianne) Fields Jr. of Clayton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren (Erica, Stephanie, Dominique, C.J., Sydni, Jordan, and Treydel); two great grandchildren (Abrianna and Harold); One brother Stanley B. (Pamela) Fields, Sr. of Richmond Virginia; One sister, Rev. Joyce R. Jones of Mass Point, Mississippi; Brother Douglas (Nancy) Butler of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one brother in-law James Hall of New York City, New York; Crystal Fields, his devoted wife of forty three years of Hampton, Virginia.
Tyrone accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas F. Freeman.
The other churches he visited were Cedar St. Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Benjamin A. Robinson, and later in life he attended Victory Baptist Bible College, graduating in Theology, under Dr. Samuel E. Hyde. He united with Hampton Roads Independent Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Roger Sebrell, where he was instrumental in teaching the young boys ages six through twelve and later placed over “The Teen Ministry”. Serving God and His church twenty five years, until his health prevented him from serving physically, however he stayed connected in prayer until God saw fit to bring his good and faithful servant home.
Tyrone was a kind and tender heart, and gave support to many of God’s people, family, and friends, an encourager to many who crossed his path.
As a little boy he enjoyed baseball, football, skating, kickball, Hide and Seek, family games and going to “Jerusalem”, walking the walls of the Hebrew Cemetery in his community. His favorite was playing “Marbles” especially when he had beat the other boys on the block. There were times when the neighborhood children would take cardboard boxes and use them as a sliding board and would slide down the hills of the “City Home '' which was in the community. He, like his brothers before him, made nickels and dimes shining shoes and enjoyed going to the picture show and eating ginger snaps.
When Tyrone graduated from Armstrong High School, to help his family he entered the military. He served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty two years, with a tour in Vietnam and assignments in England, Germany, Korea, Utah, Nevada before retiring at Langley Air Force Base Hampton Virginia. Tyrone was a Technical Sergeant Aircraft Repair Technician and those in higher authority recognized his meritorious service, rendered to and for our country. Not only did he receive an award, but two plaques for “Outstanding Service”. After retiring from the AirForce he worked ten additional years for the U.S. Navy.
