He was a free spirit who found joy in connecting with others and spreading positivity wherever he went. Wayne's education journey led him to obtain his GED after attending Ferguson High School.
In 1976, Wayne enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1977. Upon returning to Newport News, he embraced various jobs, including construction and laborer, City Waste Management, and working as a landscaper, while also dedicating himself to Wesley Grove United Church of Christ, where he found solace and spiritual fulfillment through baptism.

He had a gift for making friends easily and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Wayne's sense of humor and positive outlook on life were evident in his daily interactions, often sharing words of encouragement, prayers, and jokes with loved ones through texts and phone calls.
A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Wayne's loyalty to his team was unwavering and proudly displayed. His love for sports was just one of the many passions that brought joy to his life. Others were playing his numbers, scratching his lottery tickets, and checking in on elders in the community.
