Wiley Gene Dudley “Gene” of Hampton entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 17, 2022. Gene is the husband of Mrs. Adele Carr Dudley, to whom he was married for 59 years; son of the late Wiley J. Dudley and Allie B. Dudley; father of Ray (Dee), Sharon, Shawn (Mona), Rhonda (Steve), Sherri, Kathy (deceased,) Gloria Jean, Belinda, Kenneth, Charles, Antonio, Wiley Jr. (deceased); grandfather and great-grandfather to many cherished ones; and brother to twelve siblings. A veteran, Gene retired from the United States Air Force (USAF) as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of distinguished service.
Gene was a proud member of the USAF and he served honorably, earning numerous medals including the following: Meritorious Service Medal, Military Merit Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Medal. After Gene’s USAF retirement, he worked as a contractor for N.A.S.A. and remained involved with the military through his memberships at the Retired Armed Forces Club, where he served as Manager for numerous years, and the American Legion.
An avid fan of competitive sports and games, Gene loved the Dallas Cowboys, Celtics, tennis (specifically, the Williams sisters) and Dominoes. He held a special bond with his friends at the Retired Armed Forces Club and the American Legion Post #0067, whom he considered family.
In addition to his wife and children, Gene leaves to cherish his memory numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. He is loved and will be missed.
