William Huel Robinson Jr. (10/12/30 – 9/17/22) Dad has left us, in body, but not in spirit. He was pre-deceased by his former wife Edna Robinson. He leaves behind, us his daughters Cynthia Johnson (San Jose, CA) and Evelyn Robinson (San Jose, CA), his brother Bailey Fields, Jr. (Fayetteville), NC, his nephew Leroy Mayfield and niece-in law Regina Mayfield (Hampton, VA), his cousins Cheryl Miles (Atlanta, Georgia) and Patricia (Virginia), his buddies Mary, Jerry and Blanche, plus a host of other family and friends.
Dad had those things that he loved…baseball and the New York Mets, road trips to Virginia down ole I 95, cruising in his Galaxy 500 that had been polished till it just about glowed in the sun, fishing with his buddies. Dad, a master mechanic, could build a car from the ground up, listen to one and tell you what was wrong with it. Many a Sunday morning we’d be with him doing “assistant mechanic” work. Monday through Friday Dad drove a New York City yellow school bus and weekends found him driving a charter bus. He loved to drive. When he did a charter run, he’d stop on his way back to New York at a place called Shermans Barbeque, a Harlem institution and he’d bring us plates of the best food in the world. We’d wait up late for him to come home.
As a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army, he earned a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
We’ll surely miss him, but he lived a good long life. He’ll forever be a part of us and in our hearts. Love You Dad.
