Msgt. Willie Morton Jr, was called home on November 12, 2025 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia.
Willie Morton Jr, was born May 26,1936 at Cook County Hospital, Chicago Illinois to the proud parents; Mary Ann Daggs & Willie Morton Sr. Willie was their oldest child & he precedes his siblings Elaine Haynesworth & Raymond Morton.
Willie had a great passion for music & expressed his love for jazz at a young tender age of seven, his instruments of choice were the snare drums & the bongos which was his entertainment instrument for gatherings & performances for the military. He enjoyed playing solitaire, collecting aircraft & car models, most of all he loved his faith.
Willie graduated from Crane Technical High School, Chicago Illinois as the lead drummer with the band, 1955. Shortly after graduating, Willie enlisted with the United States Air Force (USAF). He became an aircraft technician which led to many tours of duty around the world, he served & fought in the Vietnam War, Korean War as well as other missions while serving his country. After 26 years of serving for the United States Air Force, Willie retired with outstanding decorations (ribbons, awards & medals). Willie didn’t stop his service for the military, he worked for Norfolk Naval Base as a civil servant aircraft technician for 12 years, a true soldier.
During Willie’s military journey, he met his true love Christine Jackson. Willie dedicated and devoted his love and life to Christine, the two love birds married in Tawas city, Michigan 1973. Although Christine preceded Willie in life, their endless love has come full circle and they’re reunited again.
Willie was a very humble and proud man with great dignity and integrity, his journey on earth was marked by compassion & undeniable faith in god. He would never tell you how to live but his quiet strength showed you by demonstrating the importance of family & choosing to do the right thing all the time.
Willie leaves a legacy of love & wonderful memories to his sister & family;
Elaine & Richard “Dickie” Haynesworth(deceased) + Regina, Richette, Richard II, Willie & great nieces/nephews; his brother & family; Raymond & Cynthia Morton(deceased) + Kelly & Kendall & great nieces/nephews.
Isaac & Taliah Morton + Shakir, Jhelan & Na’Shay and great grand child Ja’Cion (son & family); Monica & Thomas Crankfield Jr + Chrishun Hearn, Thomas III, Christopher, Cedrick, Da’quan & 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild (daughter & family). A host of cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren that will forever love and miss their role model, we will all keep you in our thoughts forever.
