Deacon Willie Richardson Jr. was born to the late Josephine Richardson and Willie Richardson Sr. in Nashville, North Carolina, on March 28, 1944. God
called him home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Magdalene Tucker, Lattis Brinkley, Bessie Mae McClain, and Dorothy Brinkley, and
two brothers, Joseph Richardson and Joseph Lucas.
Deacon Willie received his early education in the Nash County School System, where he also spent part of his youth working on the family farm. Throughout his life, he was known as a hardworking and dedicated man. He worked for Pepsi for 40 years and also spent time working at the shipyard, along with many other jobs throughout
his life. He was also a devoted Washington Redskins football fan.
Deacon Willie had a deep love for music and singing. Over the years, he was a member of several gospel groups, including The Gospel Majestics of Hampton, Virginia, The New Faith Gospel Singers of Newport News, Virginia, The Victory Gospel Singers of Hampton, Virginia, and The Gospel Auditions of Hampton, Virginia. In addition to singing, Deacon Willie served as the personal manager and booking agent for many groups, he helped organize and guide through music.
Deacon Willie found the love of his life, whom he called Angel, Pastor Cheryl Richardson, and later joined True Vine Pentecostal Holiness Church. After several years of faithful service, he was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of the late Bishop Eli Ratcliff Jr. He continued to serve faithfully under General Overseer William Eli Ratcliff and later became the Chairman Deacon of True Vine.
Deacon Willie Richardson Jr. was a man known for his bright smile and generous heart. He loved people deeply and always made those around him feel welcomed. One of his favorite sayings was "Keep living," a reminder to appreciate life and keep moving forward no matter what. He also enjoyed fishing, often finding peace and joy by
the water. He will always be remembered for his kindness, strength, love, and service to everyone who knew him.
Deacon Willie Richardson Jr. leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted wife, Pastor Cheryl Richardson of Portsmouth, Virginia, with whom he shared 15 wonderful years of marriage. He also leaves four stepchildren: Randy E. Nicholson, Demetrius E. Grey, Felicia Johnson, and Sylvia Mason; one sister-in-law, Brenda F. Dunn; two brothers-in-law, Frankie L. Dunn and Alexander Davis; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
