Mr. Willie R. Scott, Jr, transitioned to eternal rest on 15 July, 2024. He was born in Richmond, Virginia to Willie Royal Scott, Sr and Norma Lee Scott on November 19,1959 and was the first born to this union. He was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.
Willie joined the United States Army on November 3, 1982 and served honorably for over 22 years and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. He received several distinctions to include a Bronze Star while serving in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Upon completion of his military career, Willie began a second career in Combat Arms and retired after serving 15 years as a civil servant. He loved bowling, camping with his family, riding his motorcycle; going to the range but his greatest joys came from coaching any sport his son participated in. Whatever sport CJ was in; Mr. Scott was guaranteed to be the loudest supporter and sometimes resulted in him being ushered out of the sports venue. Mr. Scott loved pranking his friends, especially his wife and family. Willie loved football and was a die-hard Washington commanders fan.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents: William H. Morris Sr. and Vera Morris (maternal); Elwood and Lucy Scott (paternal); daughter Kwanza K. Valentine. Left to cherish his memories is his wife Shelia of 41 years, son Clint (CJ); daughter Kandice Valentine-Carter (Kaleem); siblings - Norman Scott, Sr, Joseph Scott (Constance); Sabrina S. Trimiew-Dennis (David); Darrell Scott, Quintin Scott Sr., Attila Scott and Monique Scott. Two grandchildren - Kamryn Carter and Kingston Carter. Brother in laws: John Woods Sr., Wayne Wood Sr., and David Venable (Teresa). A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins to include cousins Gwendolyn Butler and LaSonia Baker and cherished friends LeeAndrew Carey (Bubba) and Mark Lee.
